Privacy Policy

The short version: Radical Trainer does not run ads, does not sell personal information, and stores your learning progress on your device. We use diagnostics to fix bugs. The iPhone app also uses privacy-preserving product analytics to understand coarse app usage.

Who we are

Radical Trainer (the "App") is an iPhone and Android learning app published by Inkvi LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the App handles and how it is used.

Information stored on your device

Lesson progress, best scores, XP, streak day, current lesson position, audio preferences, and daily-reminder preferences are stored locally using UserDefaults on iPhone and DataStore or app preferences on Android. The App does not provide its own cloud progress account or sync service. Your operating system may include app data in device backups if you have enabled that feature. You can delete local app data by deleting the App or using any reset controls available inside the App.

Optional permissions

• Microphone. Used only when you choose pronunciation practice.
• Speech Recognition. Used with the microphone to check optional Chinese pronunciation.
• Notifications. Used only if you enable a local daily practice reminder.

If you decline a permission, the rest of the App remains usable. You can change permissions later in your device settings.

Optional speech recognition on Android

Android pronunciation uses bundled machine-learning models on the device. Microphone audio stays in memory while checking your attempt and is not saved, sent to a speech provider, or included in Sentry diagnostics. Microphone permission is optional. If access is declined or the model cannot evaluate an attempt, pronunciation offers a Continue control.

Android listening exercises play bundled Mandarin pronunciation clips offline. They do not require a text-to-speech engine or downloaded voice, and do not send prompts or microphone recordings to a speech provider.

Free access

All lessons in the current iPhone and Android versions are free. The Android app does not use Google Play Billing or collect purchase information.

Crash diagnostics

If crash reporting is enabled in a release build, Radical Trainer may use Sentry to receive technical crash diagnostics such as app version, device model, operating-system version, stack traces, installation or session identifiers, and recent lesson breadcrumbs needed to fix bugs. Android lesson breadcrumbs include the lesson identifier, level, lesson type, and completion score. Reports may also include technical device and performance context. We do not send raw microphone recordings, recognition transcripts, or stroke paths to Sentry, and do not use diagnostics for advertising. Diagnostic information is retained for troubleshooting under the service's configured retention settings and removed when no longer needed for that purpose. Product analytics

The iPhone version uses TelemetryDeck to understand coarse product usage, such as app launches, lesson starts, lesson completions, retries, and paywall views. Analytics events may include app version, OS version, device model, bundle ID, product interaction data, and TelemetryDeck's anonymous installation or session identifiers.

The Android version does not include TelemetryDeck.

We use this information only for analytics and product improvement. We do not use it for advertising, do not use it for cross-app tracking, and do not link it to your identity. We do not send names, email addresses, raw microphone audio, speech transcripts, or raw tracing paths to TelemetryDeck.

What we do not do

• We do not show ads.
• We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
• We do not require an account.

Children

Radical Trainer is suitable for younger learners but is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International users

Because core progress data stays on your device and payments are handled by Apple or Google Play, most access, correction, and deletion requests are satisfied by the controls on your device. For privacy questions, contact us at the email below.

Changes

If Radical Trainer changes in a way that affects this privacy policy, we will update this page before or when that change ships.
